Bleaching & Tie dye research

Looking at my colour palette, I decided to research sky images for the merging vibrant colours. This then caused me to look at bleaching and tie dying as they both can look very simular to skies.
I came across Rodarte's tie dye designs and Ivana Helsinki's bleach designs as great inspiration.

My mono-filament designs

Here I have started to create some designs with mono-filament, still using the tuck stitch and hooking up technique however knitting mono-filament in between the design. This method gives a floating, transparent look and helps the textures stand out. It also creates more structure to the design which can also be effective and useful for garment shapes.

Mono-filament research

Looking at some market research I discovered some interesting designs with a material called mono-filament, looking at the effects it can create I decided it would be a great material to experiment with.

Tuck stitches

Tuck stitch is a very effective textured method, I have began to use this method for a lot of my designs due to the bumpy textures that look a lot like sand patterns. Its a simple but very effective design and I feel it works very well with my theme.

New experimenting samples

Looking at my own photographs for inspiration as well as WGSN market research I have started to design my knitwear. Looking at the textures and shapes I began my first samples by hooking up the knit or using a ripple stitch to create a bumpy layered texture.
